Key Insights from the Best of St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference 2026
It was a privilege to serve as a faculty member at the Best of 19th St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference & Asian Cancer Consensus Meet, held from March 6–8, 2026, at Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata. Organized by the Institute of Breast Diseases (IBD), the event brought together global experts and highlighted how international treatment standards can be adapted to Asian clinical realities.
As a radiation oncologist, the discussions strongly emphasized the “Less is More” approach in breast cancer care. Key highlights included the safe de-escalation of radiotherapy in selected low-risk patients and the growing adoption of ultra-hypofractionated 5-fraction radiotherapy (Fast-Forward regimen) as a new standard. I also participated in a focused Radiation Oncology workshop led by Dr. Sushil Beriwal, which explored advanced contouring techniques and AI-assisted treatment planning to reduce cardiac and pulmonary toxicity.
